Peter Obi Slams Double Standards in Arraignment of Ibom Air Passenger

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, criticized the arraignment and public humiliation of Comfort Emmanson, a female passenger accused of unruly behavior on an Ibom Air flight. In a statement on Twitter, Obi condemned the double standards in Nigeria's justice system and the uncivilized conduct of the security operatives involved.

He apologized to the Ibom Air crew allegedly assaulted by Emmanson and described the treatment as unnecessary and dishonorable. Obi highlighted the systemic bias favoring the influential and called for fairness to be the foundation of Nigeria's legal system.

He demanded an explanation from the Minister of Aviation and relevant authorities for the disparity in actions taken in this case. The controversy began when a video surfaced showing Emmanson confronting a flight attendant and airport security personnel.

Emmanson was charged, remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Facility, while another individual accused of delaying a flight remains free pending investigation. Obi called for an end to selective.
