Xiaomi Launches Redmi 17 with 7,500mAh Battery in Nigeria

Xiaomi is focusing on battery life in its upcoming smartphone, the Redmi 17, which is scheduled to launch in Nigeria on September 1, 2026. The device will feature a 7,500mAh battery and 45W Turbo Charging, catering to consumers who spend extended hours on their phones.

Positioned as an entry-level smartphone for students and young professionals, the Redmi 17's battery capacity significantly exceeds the common 5,000mAh found in many smartphones. This launch is part of Xiaomi's strategy to enhance its presence in Nigeria's entry-level smartphone market.

The 7,500mAh battery is designed to provide up to 91 hours of music playback, and a 35-minute charge is claimed to offer a full day's use under specific test conditions. Additionally, the phone supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, enabling it to power compatible devices.

This approach aligns with the increasing competition among Chinese smartphone manufacturers, who are pushing battery capacities beyond 7,000mAh in 2026.
