INEC Recognizes David Mark as ADC Leader After Ruling

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated its records to recognize David Mark as the national chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as the national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This update follows a Supreme Court ruling on Thursday that addressed the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.

The Supreme Court vacated an earlier order that directed the ADC to maintain the status quo pending the resolution of the leadership dispute. The court, led by Justice Moham Lawal Garba, ruled that the Court of Appeal had acted beyond its jurisdiction by issuing an order on a case that had already been dismissed.

The apex court's unanimous decision involved a five-member panel and directed the ADC factions to return to the trial court to continue hearing the case. This ruling is significant as it clarifies the leadership structure of the ADC amidst ongoing legal disputes.
