Jonathan and Obi Discuss Opposition Unity for 2027 Elections

On Monday, former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi conducted a closed-door meeting as part of Obi's ongoing political consultations in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The discussions aimed to explore the possibility of presenting a single presidential candidate from the opposition parties.

Obi was accompanied by a delegation that included Igbo elders and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from the Southeast zone. This meeting occurred against the backdrop of Obi's extensive political engagements across Nigeria, including talks of alliances with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and ADC chieftains.

The meeting followed a national summit held by opposition parties, including factions of the People's Democratic Party and ADC, in Ibadan, Oyo State, chaired by Governor Seyi Makinde and attended by notable figures such as former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Atiku Abubakar. The summit aimed to unify opposition efforts against the ruling All Progressives Congress.
