Final-Year Medical Student Killed in Ukraine Airstrike

Nnani Adaobi Marian, a 23-year-old final-year medical student at Kharkiv National Medical University, was fatally injured during a Russian airstrike in Kharkiv on June 29, 2026. The attack occurred in the Kholodnohirskyi district, where Russian forces dropped an aerial bomb.

Adaobi was receiving treatment in Germany when she succumbed to her injuries. Tragically, her close friend, Fatima Huseynova, was also killed in the same attack, which took place during a graduation ceremony.

Adaobi, born on April 24, 2003, began her medical studies in 2020 and was set to graduate in 2026. She had completed internships at the University of Cambridge in 2024 and Biruni University in Turkey in 2025.

The Kharkiv National Medical University expressed condolences, highlighting Adaobi's dedication, compassion, and academic excellence, noting her potential to make significant contributions to the medical field.
