Plateau State Charges Five in Angwa-Rukuba Killings

The Plateau State government has filed charges against five suspects arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in relation to the Angwa-Rukuba killings that occurred on March 28, 2025, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 people. The charges were filed on a Friday, following a presidential visit to Plateau State aimed at assuring residents of justice for the victims of recurrent attacks.

The suspects, identified as Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar, Musa Abubakar, and Adamu Isa Alhassan, face various charges including criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism-related offenses and illegal possession of firearms. The charges were filed by the state Attorney General, Philemon Audu Daffi, and are based on actions that took place in the Jos North and Riyom Local Government Areas.

The DSS reportedly arrested the suspects between April 3 and April 10, 2026. The incidents have raised concerns about security and the ongoing violence in the region.
