FRSC Reports 20 Fatalities in Plateau State Road Crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that 20 individuals died in a multiple road traffic crash along the Hawan Kibo-Jos route in Plateau State. The crash occurred at approximately 3:32 p.m. after Sopp Water Falls and involved four vehicles, resulting in five additional injuries.
The Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Osondu Ohaeri, reported that of the 25 people involved, 23 were males and two were females, with 20 male victims deceased. The vehicles included a Howo Sino truck, a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Bummer bus operated by Yankari Express, and a motorcycle.
Preliminary findings suggested brake failure and loss of control as potential causes, leading the FRSC to initiate a detailed investigation. Rescue personnel evacuated the injured to Ryom General Hospital and Vom Christian Hospital, while the deceased were taken to the mortuary at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
FRSC Corps Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed expressed condolences and emphasized the importance of vehicle maintenance and road safety.
