Plateau State Violence Claims Twelve Lives in Attacks

On September 21, 2026, a series of violent attacks in Plateau State resulted in the deaths of twelve individuals. The most notable incident occurred when gunmen ambushed a Vectra vehicle carrying passengers from Gana-Ropp to Mangu around 7:30 PM on Saturday, killing four passengers and the driver, with one survivor.

Ukasha Garba, the Pyem Youth Leader in Gana-Ropp, confirmed that the driver, who frequently transported foodstuffs, was from Gindiri. The bodies were taken to the police station in Gana-Ropp.

Bulus Dabit, the National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association, condemned the attacks and urged security agencies to apprehend those responsible, emphasizing the fear these incidents instill in the community. In separate incidents, two individuals, including a pastor, were killed in Barkin Ladi, and a woman was reported dead in Riyom Local Government Area.

Additionally, three herders were killed in Kassa community while transporting cattle. Abubakar Gambo, the Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Barkin Ladi, confirmed these attacks and called for calm among community members.
