Omokri Warns Atiku Against Choosing Obi as Running Mate

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has cautioned Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, against choosing Peter Obi as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election. Omokri argues that such a decision could jeopardize Atiku's political support in his home state of Adamawa.

He emphasizes that the alliance between Atiku and Obi may backfire, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where past political experiences and religious affiliations significantly influence voter decisions. Omokri references the tragic killing of Ahm Gulak in 2021 and the death of Harira Jubril, a pregnant woman, in 2022, as incidents that have shaped negative perceptions of Obi among Northern voters.

He criticizes media entrepreneur Momodu's suggestion of an Atiku-Obi alliance, asserting that political leaders must demonstrate greater sensitivity to Nigeria's complex social and cultural diversities to avoid alienating voters.
