Three Men Charged with Goat Theft in Ado-Ekiti

Three men, Olarewaju Segun (27), Abubakar Yinusa (28), and Farouk Aliu (28), were arraigned before Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, for allegedly stealing seven goats valued at N700,000. The defendants faced two counts of stealing and receiving stolen property but pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, stated that the alleged theft occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. on October 11 at Abuja Quarters along NTA Road, Ado-Ekiti. Segun was accused of stealing the goats belonging to Ifeoluwa Adebomojo, while Yinusa and Aliu were alleged to have received the stolen goats, aware of their status.
The offences reportedly contravened Sections 302(1) and 343(1) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021. The prosecutor requested an adjournment to study the case file and present witnesses.
The defendants' counsel, Paul Ayantoyinbo, requested bail, which was granted by Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon in the sum of N100,000 each, with one surety in the same amount. The case was adjourned until November 19 for hearing.
