Police Arrest 11 Suspects Linked to Sowore Attack

On October 30, 2026, police arrested 11 suspects linked to the attack on Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress, in Ado-Ekiti. Sowore claimed he was kidnapped during the incident and accused the Ekiti State Government of orchestrating the attack.

The police, represented by Public Relations Officer Sunday Abutu, stated that Sowore sustained a minor injury during an altercation at a restaurant. Abutu confirmed that the arrests occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on October 30, following a credible tip-off, in the Atikankan Area of Ado-Ekiti.

Items recovered from the suspects included walkie-talkies, substances suspected to be drugs, ATM cards, mobile phones, and international passports. The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their roles and connections to the attack.

Commissioner of Police Micheal Falade assured the public of thorough investigations to bring all involved to justice.
