Oyo Police Arrest 16 Students for Cultism at Polytechnic

On Wednesday, the Oyo State Police Command arrested 16 students, comprising 14 males and 2 females, for alleged involvement in cultism at Polytechnic Ibadan. The police investigation revealed that these suspects were on the command's watchlist due to their alleged involvement in serious murder cases related to cult activities within the state.

The police recovered two locally made cut-to-size guns, two English pistols, 16 live cartridges, and four assorted charms from the suspects. The operation was coordinated following credible intelligence indicating that members of a notorious cult, Aiy confraternity, planned to hold a critical meeting within the premises of the Polytechnic Ibadan.

The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the suspects' activities.
