Police Arrest 16 Cultists at Ibadan Polytechnic

On Wednesday, the Oyo State Police Command announced the arrest of 16 suspected members of a secret cult at Ibadan Polytechnic. The operation, led by DSP Olayinka Ayanlad under the direction of CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, followed credible intelligence indicating that members of the notorious Aiy confraternity were planning a critical meeting on the campus.

Upon obtaining the necessary approval from the school authorities, the police executed the operation, identifying the location of the alleged gathering. The suspects, comprising 14 males and 2 females, were apprehended around the venue.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were on the police watchlist for involvement in serious murder cases and cult-related activities within the state. Items recovered from the suspects included two locally made cut-to-size guns, two English pistols, 16 live cartridges, and four assorted charms.

Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the suspects' activities and to apprehend any fleeing accomplices.
