Chef Arrested for Drugging and Stealing N150m Goods

John Cosmo Govi, a chef, was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for his alleged involvement in drugging and stealing luxury items valued at N150 million from a residence in Abuja. The arrest occurred following an operation by the police's Intelligence Response Team (IRT) after a preliminary investigation revealed that Govi, reportedly trained at a catering school in Cotonou, Benin Republic, had established contact with two accomplices identified as Peter Mose.

The operation took place on April 23, 2026, when Govi allegedly monitored the security layout of the residence and planned to incapacitate the occupants using a harmful substance. The police stated that Govi and his accomplices vandalized the CCTV system, ransacked the apartment, and stole cash and twenty luxury wristwatches.

Govi was intercepted while attempting to flee towards Gwagwalada en route to Lagos. During the arrest, police recovered an iPhone 17 Pro Max belonging to the victim and a chemical substance for forensic analysis.
