Driver Arrested for Allegedly Killing VIO Officer in Akure

The Ondo State Police Command arrested 37-year-old driver Ayoade Idowu in connection with the death of Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) official Adediji Sesan, aged 35. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on a Friday along Hospital Road in Akure, where Sesan was conducting a routine patrol.
Idowu was flagged down for vehicle inspection but allegedly drove off after being asked for documentation, striking Sesan in the process. The VIO officer sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body has been placed in the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy. The police have detained Idowu and are conducting preliminary investigations, with plans to transfer the case to the Motor Traffic Division for further inquiry.
