Ebonyi Police Arrest Man for 11-Year Legal Impersonation

Ugwumba Enyinnaya was arrested by the Ebonyi State Police Command for allegedly impersonating a lawyer and practicing illegally for over 11 years. The arrest followed an investigation into a petition regarding obtaining money by false pretence.
Enyinnaya allegedly collected ₦650,000 from Chukwu David in March 2026 to facilitate street naming in Ohaozara Local Government Area. He presented himself as a lawyer with extensive legal experience before collecting the money.
Upon arrest, Enyinnaya admitted he was not a lawyer. A search of his apartment uncovered items used for impersonation, including a Nigerian Bar Association seal, a portrait in barrister’s regalia, and fake LL.B. and LL.M. certificates from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
Other recovered items included a barrister’s robe, wig, court judgments, and various legal documents. Enyinnaya has been charged in court for the alleged offences.
CP Hope Okafor commended the police operatives and urged the public to verify legal credentials.
