Rivers Police Arrest Suspect in Shedrack Chukwem Murder

The Rivers State Police Command arrested Robinson Uch, a 29-year-old native of Umuechem, for the murder of 42-year-old Shedrack Chukwem, an indigene of Umuemeshi in the Etche Local Government Area. The arrest occurred on March 6, 2026, after sustained investigations by the Anti-Cultism Unit.

Uch allegedly confessed to participating in Chukwem's murder, which took place on December 17, 2025. The incident involved a group of suspects, including four others identified by the police.

They were reportedly hired by Chief Elijah Oker to bring Chukwem to his palace, where an altercation ensued, leading to Chukwem's death. Following the murder, the suspects transported Chukwem's body to a bush location in Ekerr Ugbor and buried it in a shallow grave.

The police successfully recovered the body and have intensified efforts to apprehend other individuals connected to the crime. Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, assured the public of the command's commitment to ensuring justice.
