Kwara Police Arrest Suspected Gun-Runner with Firearms

The Kwara State Police Command arrested a 30-year-old suspected gun-runner, Umaru M., during a stop-and-search operation along the Alapa–Okolowo axis in Ilorin. Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and 42 rounds of live ammunition from a bag in a commercial vehicle.
Initially, Umaru denied ownership of the bag, but further investigation led him to admit he was transporting the firearms. He provided information linking the weapons to another suspect, Dan Yarubawa, who allegedly supplied the firearms for delivery to an individual named Dahiru outside Kwara State.
The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the other suspects involved in the gun-running network. Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi reaffirmed the command's commitment to public safety and urged residents to provide timely information to assist in security operations.
