Kano Police Arrest Two Teens for Illegal Firearm Possession

The Kano State Police Command arrested two 19-year-old men, Rufai Ahmed and Aliyu Ibrahim, for alleged unlawful possession of a firearm. Ahmed was apprehended on October 11, 2026, at approximately 10.30 pm after a surveillance team intercepted a tricycle on Sokoto Road.
During a search, officers from the Farm Centre Police Division discovered a bag containing a locally made revolver pistol and two rounds of live ammunition. Following the initial arrest, further investigation ordered by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori led to the arrest of Aliyu Ibrahim, who is also 19 years old and resides in Kawo Quarters, Kano.
The arrests were part of a directive from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu aimed at intelligence-led policing and recovering illegal firearms. Bakori commended the officers for their professionalism and reiterated the command's commitment to addressing illegal arms possession and criminal activities in the state.
