Oyo Police Address Viral Arrest Video, Confirm Cult Suspect

The Oyo State Police Command addressed a viral video showing a man being arrested in Ibadan, confirming that he was suspected of involvement in cult-related activities. The arrest was conducted by the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit.

The video, reportedly recorded by a passerby, raised questions about the circumstances of the arrest, with background audio reflecting uncertainty. The user who shared the video, @de_shinor, claimed the incident occurred at Danax near Adamasingba and mentioned previous encounters with the police squad, which he referred to as "Anti Squad Mangarawa." The police clarified that this name is not an official designation, and the unit responsible for such operations is the Anti-Cultism Unit.

They emphasized that their operations are intelligence-driven, aimed at preventing crime in areas with significant student populations. The Command encouraged the public to report any specific concerns regarding police conduct, reaffirming their commitment to professional policing.
