Police Hunt for Rivers Ex-SSG, Arrest Pastor Over Alleged Wike Assassination Plot

The security situation in Rivers State escalated as police arrested Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a pastor, for allegedly planning to assassinate former Governor Nyesom Wike.

The arrest came after intercepted calls between Gbeneol and Dr. Tammi Danagogo discussing the plot.

The Inspector General of Police's Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led the operation, with Gbeneol currently in custody. The police are also seeking to apprehend Danagogo, who has gone underground.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the ongoing investigation but did not provide further details.
