Nigerian Police Deploy Special Squad to Niger Communities Amid Rising Insecurity

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed an armed tactical squad to communities in Borgu and Agwara local government areas in Niger State. This action comes after a series of attacks, kidnappings, and killings in the region.

Abdullahi Adamu Elleman, the State Police Commissioner, revealed that over 120 armed tactical squad members have been sent to the affected areas to combat the rising insecurity caused by banditry and terrorism. The police are concerned about the activities of terrorist groups and have deemed it necessary to deploy the squad to restore peace and security.

The armed tactical unit was dispatched from the police headquarters in response to the continuous threats posed by criminal elements in the region. The leaders of the communities in Borgu and Agwara have called for swift government intervention to rescue the people from the frequent attacks by terrorists and bandits.
