Kogi Police Investigate Murder of Graduate Aminu Lawal

The Kogi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the murder of Aminu Lawal, a recent graduate from the University of Maiduguri, who was awaiting his National Youth Service Corps call-up. Lawal went missing on March 18, 2023, after leaving his home in Otok Estate, Lokoja, and was later found dead on March 19, 2023, in a bush area opposite the Central Bank zone 8. His body showed signs of violence, including a cut to the neck. Following the discovery, community members expressed their concerns and demanded justice, leading to the arrest of a suspect named Garuba, who was identified as the last caller to Lawal. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Kogi State Police spokesperson ASP Saliu Oyiza assured that the investigation would be thorough and that the police are not under pressure to release any suspects.
