Kogi Police Arrest Suspects in ATBU Graduate Murder Case

Aminu Abubakar, a recent graduate of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, was murdered in Lokoja, Kogi State, during a robbery aimed at stealing his tricycle. The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the arrest of suspects Garba Godwin and Ibrahim Ashema, following a coordinated intelligence operation.

Abubakar, who was searching for daily income with his tricycle, went missing after leaving home. His lifeless body was later discovered near the CBN area in Zone 8.

An autopsy revealed he sustained multiple severe blows to the back of his head, resulting in fatal injuries. The suspects allegedly posed as construction workers to lure Abubakar to a secluded location where they attacked him.

They admitted to premeditated intent to dispossess him of his tricycle, which was later sold to Kabiru Idri in Ayangba. The investigation revealed that the two principal suspects were ex-convicts previously linked to armed robbery and homicide cases.

They have been charged and remanded in custody by the magistrate court in Lokoja.
