Imo Police Rescue 10 Abducted Passengers from Buses

The Imo State Police Command successfully rescued 10 passengers who were abducted by gunmen during an attack on two commercial buses in Mbaitoli Local Government Area. The incident occurred around 6:30 am on Thursday at Umunoha, an area referred to as “No Man’s Land.” The buses were traveling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and Bende, Abia State.
Among the abducted individuals were some National Youth Service Corps members. Police Public Relations Officer DSP Henry Okoye confirmed the rescue and stated that the exact number of abducted passengers was still being verified.
The rescued individuals are safe and receiving necessary care. Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso, along with other service commanders, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
The police are collaborating with other security agencies to conduct search-and-rescue operations and are in contact with the NYSC Directorate to inform the families of the affected corps members.
