Kogi Police Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims on Highway

The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the rescue of 11 passengers who were kidnapped on Wednesday on the Aloma–Egane expressway in the Ofu local government area. Armed hoodlums ambushed two commercial buses at approximately 4:40 p.m. near Ogene Zaria, blocking the vehicles and abducting several passengers while others fled into the forest.

Following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer in Ofu mobilized a joint security team to the scene, where they recovered two abandoned vehicles: a white Hummer bus belonging to Peace Mass Transit and a yellow 18-seater bus. A coordinated bush-combing and rescue operation was launched, resulting in the successful rescue of 11 victims, including the drivers of the affected buses.

Preliminary findings indicated that most of the rescued individuals were members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) traveling from Bayelsa State to Abuja. After undergoing initial debriefing and necessary procedures, the victims were allowed to continue their journey.
