Police Rescue 30 Foreign Nationals from Trafficking Ring

The Nigerian Police Force achieved a significant breakthrough in combating transnational organized crime by rescuing 30 foreign nationals and dismantling a cross-border human trafficking syndicate. The operation, which took place on May 7, 2026, was led by DCP Anthony Placid and resulted in the arrest of 13 suspects connected to the criminal network.

Among the principal suspects was Abdul Ngaki. Investigations began following intelligence reports indicating the disappearance of several foreign nationals under suspicious circumstances.

Preliminary findings revealed that the syndicate targeted vulnerable young people from West African countries, particularly Mali and Gabon, luring them with false promises of migration opportunities to Europe. Victims were reportedly coerced into paying transport fees and were held in exploitative conditions in Mararaba, Karu, Nasarawa State.

Further investigations indicated that victims were unable to meet additional financial demands, leading to their involvement in a staged kidnapping scheme orchestrated by the syndicate, which pressured families for ransom payments.
