Delta Police Rescue Abducted Woman in Oghara Operation

The Delta State Police Command successfully rescued a 48-year-old woman who had been kidnapped in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area. The rescue operation took place on Wednesday after police operatives received a distress call and mobilized the Divisional Police Officer of Oghara Division, along with members of the Quick Response Squad, vigilantes, and hunters, to Ovade Forest.

During the operation, the police encountered approximately four suspected kidnappers, leading to a gun battle. The suspects fled, abandoning the victim.

In the aftermath, one unidentified suspect was found dead, while another, identified as Abubakhar Sani, was arrested with gunshot injuries and later died at a hospital. Recovered items from the suspects included a dagger, NIN slip, OPay Verve card, Tecno mobile phone, and other personal belongings.

The rescued woman is reported to be stable and is currently undergoing debriefing, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
