Police Rescue Kidnap Victim and Arrest Suspect in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnapped woman named Loveth and arrested a suspect, Victor Ini, during an intelligence-led operation in Rivers State. Loveth was abducted on September 2, 2026, while sitting in front of her shop by armed assailants who fired shots before taking her away.

Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju directed operatives to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the kidnappers. The Eleme Police Division conducted a coordinated operation, which resulted in an exchange of gunfire with the suspects, leading to Loveth's rescue and the arrest of 35-year-old Victor Ini, a native of Akwa Ibom State.

The police recovered a silver-coloured mini Keke bus, two locally made pistols, one live ammunition, a mobile phone, identity cards, and other items. The police command has increased intelligence gathering and surveillance to capture other gang members and reassured residents of their commitment to combatting crime.
