Police Rescue 11 NYSC Members Abducted in Kogi State

On August 28, 2023, the Kogi State Police Command successfully rescued 11 individuals, including several members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who were abducted by armed men along the Aloma-Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 4:40 PM when armed hoodlums ambushed two buses traveling in opposite directions, taking some occupants hostage.

The corps members were returning to Abuja after completing their orientation program at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Following a distress call regarding the attack, the Divisional Police Officer in Ofu led a joint security team to the scene, where they recovered two abandoned vehicles: a white Peace Mass Transit Hummer bus and a yellow 18-seater bus.

Saliu Afusat, the spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, confirmed the coordinated bush-combing and rescue operation that led to the recovery of the abducted victims.
