Kebbi Police Convict 19 for Terrorism and Firearms Offenses

The Kebbi State Police Command has secured the convictions of 19 suspects for terrorism, illegal possession of firearms, and vandalism. SP Bashir Usman announced this on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi, detailing that the convictions followed 17 months of investigations and prosecution at the Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi.
Justice Emmanuel Gakko delivered the judgments, concluding legal proceedings from intelligence-led operations in Yauri, Bagudo, Sakaba, and other areas. Among the convicted were Aliyu Hadari and Umar Musa Uzzi, identified as terrorist kingpins, sentenced to 15 years for terrorism, providing logistical support to an armed group, and conspiracy to commit terrorism.
They were arrested while traveling in a vehicle intended for transporting kidnap victims. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the vehicle and a motorcycle.
Additionally, 11 other suspects were convicted for unlawful possession of firearms, with sentences ranging from two years to six years. The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammed Hajejia, praised the prosecution team's efforts in pursuing complex cases.
