Court Sentences Ripin Liu and Two Nigerians for Terrorism

On October 15, a Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, sentenced Ripin Liu, a Chinese national, to six years in prison for terrorism-related offences. Two Nigerian men, Aliyu Hadari and Umar Musa Uzzi, received 15-year sentences each.
Justice Emmanuel Gakko presided over the case, ruling that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the defendants conspired to commit terrorism and provided support to terrorists, in violation of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022. The court heard that Liu and the others were intercepted along Yauri Road while traveling in a vehicle allegedly intended for transporting kidnapped victims.
Liu was found with a Beretta pistol during the arrest. Additionally, the court ordered the forfeiture of a vehicle and a Bajaj motorcycle to the Federal Government, as they were linked to the crimes.
