Nigerian Gospel Singer Taiwo Adegbodu Passes Away

Taiwo Adegbodu, a well-known Nigerian gospel singer and one half of the gospel duo Adegbodu Twin, has died. The news was confirmed on Sunday morning by fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekel through a post on Instagram, which included a picture of Adegbodu.

The cause of death has not been disclosed. Taiwo and his twin brother Kehind rose to prominence in the Yoruba gospel music scene after releasing their first album, "Faratimi," in 1999, which marked the beginning of their journey in gospel music.

Their songs, characterized by strong spiritual messages that reflect Yoruba culture, include popular tracks such as "Shower Bless," "God Concert," "Emi Mimo," "Igbagbo," and "Dun Ma Beru Adura Mi Gba." Their work earned them recognition across various churches and gospel events both within and outside their home state. In acknowledgment of their contributions to music and entertainment, the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, appointed the twin brothers as special advisers on entertainment and tourism.
