Presidency Denies Fake Trump Tweet on Tinubu's Security

The Nigerian Presidency has refuted a viral fake tweet purportedly from former U.S. President Donald Trump that criticized President Bola Tinubu's management of security issues, particularly in relation to recent terrorist threats in the northeast.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Sundai Dare, labeled the circulating post as fake and provided a rebuttal alongside a visual refutation of the alleged Trump tweet. This misinformation emerged amid escalating militant activity in Borno State, where multiple suicide bombings linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP resulted in at least 23 deaths and over 100 injuries in Maiduguri.

The attacks occurred in crowded areas, including a market and public facilities, shortly before the Ramadan fast. President Tinubu expressed profound upset over the attacks and emphasized solidarity with the victims and residents of Borno, stating that Nigeria would not succumb to fear.

He also directed the security intelligence chief to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations.
