FG Denies Trump's Viral Criticism of Tinubu's Security

The Federal Government of Nigeria reacted to a viral social media post purportedly from former U.S. President Donald Trump, which criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the country's security situation.

The post, which circulated widely on Tuesday morning, claimed that Trump described Nigeria's security as a "total disaster" and suggested that Tinubu had failed in his primary duty to protect citizens. It called for urgent measures, including tighter border control and stronger security actions across the country.

In response, Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, dismissed the post as false and misleading, stating that there is no official record of such a statement from Trump. He emphasized that the content was fabricated and warned Nigerians to avoid spreading unverifiable information, noting that the White House's verified social media accounts do not contain such a post.

Dare cautioned that fake content could create unnecessary tension and mislead the public, especially on sensitive national security issues.
