Presidency Rebukes Peter Obi Over ADC Crisis Claims

The presidency has condemned former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi for what it termed as unfairly targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the ongoing crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a statement issued on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, the president's special adviser on strategic communications, Obi was warned against blaming Tinubu for the turmoil, which Onanuga insisted was self-inflicted within the opposition party.

Onanuga criticized Obi for allegedly abandoning the Labour Party to pursue the Obidi movement, claiming he has failed to demonstrate leadership in resolving internal crises. He further accused Obi of attempting to use the ADC as a political vehicle, allegedly acquired from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ADC's founder Ralph Nwosu.

Onanuga emphasized that the current leadership disputes within the ADC are not connected to President Tinubu, who he described as the legitimate leader of Nigeria. He cautioned Obi against attempts to blackmail the presidency, noting that his previous electoral performance does not guarantee success in future elections.
