Tinubu Advocates Responsible Journalism at Abuja Dinner

On a recent occasion in Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed the State House Press Corps dinner, where he advocated for responsible journalism as a means to safeguard democracy. He acknowledged the media's role in providing scrutiny and context to government policies, particularly during challenging times for Nigeria's security.

President Tinubu emphasized that while press freedom is fundamental to democracy, it comes with the responsibility to avoid misinformation. He noted the significance of the Cybercrime Act in protecting citizens from malicious falsehoods in the digital age.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State. Moham Idri praised Tinubu's leadership and urged journalists to report responsibly on national security issues, calling for media to avoid amplifying terrorist narratives and to promote national cohesion.
