President Tinubu Advocates for New Tax Laws in Nigeria

President Tinubu defended the new tax laws introduced by his administration during a speech at the Nigeria Revenue Service (NR) headquarters in Abuja. He emphasized that the new tax system, which is set to become fully operational in January 2026, is designed to be people-centric and investment-friendly, aiming to advance the nation's development goals.

The President commended the Executive Chairman of the NR for successfully completing the new headquarters, which took 30 months to build and will house approximately 3,000 staff along with various facilities. He expressed gratitude to the Minister of State for Finance for their leadership in modernizing the colonial-era tax laws.

President Tinubu assured that the NR would position itself as a revenue hub equipped with technological capabilities to support data-driven policies that are sensitive to the needs of vulnerable populations. He urged the Executive Chairman to ensure the institution upholds the highest standards.
