Tinubu Celebrates Nigeria's ICC Arbitration Win on Mambilla Project

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hailed Nigeria's victory in the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration, describing it as a significant win that eliminated a major legal obstacle hindering the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project. He commended Prince Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, along with the Federal Ministry of Justice team, for their efforts in this case.

The legal defense was led by Elizabeth Oger-Gross and Tolu Obamuroh from Paul Hastings LLP. The dispute traces back to a 2003 contract for a 3,050-megawatt hydroelectric plant in Taraba State, which was not authorized by the Federal Executive Council.

Tinubu also recognized the roles of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari, who testified in the case, and thanked former Ministers Babatunde Raji Fashola and Suleiman Adamu for their support. He assured investors of Nigeria's commitment to honoring legal obligations and defending against opportunistic claims.
