Women Entrepreneurs Urged to Lead in International Trade

On Tuesday in Abuja, Aliyu Bunu Sheriff, a special adviser on export expansion, called on Nigerian women entrepreneurs to move beyond mere participation in international trade and aim for leadership roles. Speaking at a conference organized by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Sheriff highlighted the central role women entrepreneurs play in driving Nigeria's economic transformation.

He emphasized the necessity of establishing stronger support systems to help women scale their businesses and compete globally. Sheriff noted that empowering women-led businesses is not just a social imperative but a smart economic strategy.

He urged government agencies and private sector players to collaborate and support women-led enterprises. Earlier, Nonyr Ayeni, the Executive Director and CEO of NEPC, stated that Nigeria is projected to record its highest non-oil export value of $6.1 billion by 2025.
