Cement Prices Surge in Nigeria: Dangote and BUA Hike Costs

This week, the prices of cement from major brands such as Dangote and BUA have seen a significant increase across various states in Nigeria, with bags now selling for ₦10,500 to ₦11,200. A market survey conducted in states including Kwara, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, and Jigawa revealed that the price hike has become widespread, affecting builders, block makers, and contractors who are struggling to adjust their budgets.

In Ilorin, Kwara State, cement prices ranged from ₦9,300 to ₦9,700 per bag last month, but have now averaged between ₦10,500 and ₦10,700 depending on the brand and location. Dangote cement previously sold for ₦9,500 but now goes for ₦10,500 to ₦10,600, while BUA cement has risen to approximately ₦9,500 to ₦10,700 per bag.

Lafarge Africa's products are priced between ₦10,600 and ₦10,700, and Mangal cement, which was previously affordable at ₦9,300 to ₦9,400, now sells for ₦10,500 to ₦10,600. Traders attribute this increase to rising supply chain costs, which offer little relief to consumers already facing tight budgets.
