Oluremi Tinubu Urges Women to Safeguard Progress

During the International Women's Day celebration on March 8, 2026, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu called on Nigerian women to safeguard the progress achieved under President Bola Tinubu's administration, which began reforms in May 2023. She highlighted the importance of women's rights, education, economic empowerment, and health, stressing that sustainable development requires patience and collective commitment.

Oluremi Tinubu illustrated her point by comparing societal progress to building a house, emphasizing the need for a solid foundation. She also praised the pivotal role women play in ensuring stability within homes and society.

The event featured endorsements for President Tinubu's re-election bid from prominent figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno, who underscored the importance of women's contributions to societal success. Additionally, Oluremi Tinubu commissioned a senior citizen center in honor of her late mother-in-law, aimed at providing healthcare and social support for the elderly.
