Nigerian Leaders Celebrate International Women’s Day 2026

On International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, 2026, prominent Nigerian leaders, including First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, emphasized the critical role of women in nation-building. Tinubu stressed the importance of empowering women, stating that investing in women's education, healthcare, and leadership opportunities benefits the entire country.

Akpabio recognized the resilience and contributions of Nigerian women, pledging that the National Assembly would continue to support policies that expand women's opportunities in economic and political spheres. Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya also assured that his administration would promote policies designed to address the unique needs of women.
