PTAD Disburses N3.82bn Pension Arrears to Retirees

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed a total of N3.82 billion in accrued pension arrears to 30,356 pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme. This payment was made after a Back-End Computation Review Exercise aimed at resolving complaints related to pension calculations and unpaid benefits.

The beneficiaries include pensioners from the Parastatals Pension Department, the Defunct and Transferred Agencies Pension Department, and the Tertiary, Education and Health Pension Department. PTAD's Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, confirmed the total amount paid as N3.817 billion.

The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, expressed gratitude to the pensioners for their cooperation during the review process and reaffirmed the Directorate's commitment to timely and transparent processing of verified pension obligations. This payment reflects the Federal Government's commitment to addressing pension-related challenges and improving the welfare of retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme, which is distinct from the Contributory Pension Scheme.
