PTDF Advocates for Accurate Energy Sector Reporting

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) conducted a training workshop to stress the need for accurate journalism in the energy sector. Prof. Shuaibu Shehu Aliyu, the Executive Secretary of PTDF, highlighted that precise and balanced reporting is crucial for public understanding of the oil and gas industry.

He noted that the media plays a vital role in shaping public discourse and promoting transparency, which is essential for national development. The training aimed to build the capacity of journalists, recognizing that effective reporting requires a solid grasp of the sector's policies and technologies.

Prof. Aliyu stated that PTDF's mission includes developing skilled manpower and advancing research in the oil and gas industry, which should be communicated clearly. John Ofikhenua, chairman of the Association of Energy Correspondents Abuja FCT (AECAF), urged PTDF to maintain its relationship with the media to enhance understanding of its mandate.

Dr. Victor Dare, Group Managing Director of BetterWays, emphasized the oil and gas sector's significance to Nigeria's economy, contributing significantly to government revenue and foreign exchange earnings.
