Kwara State to Launch Second-Largest Shea Butter Plant, Boosting Local Economy

Kwara State is set to open Nigeria's second-largest Raw Shea Butter Processing plant in Kaiama, following a directive to ban the export of raw Shea butter by President Bola Tinubu. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq praised the move to encourage local production and strengthen the value chain of the prized cash crop.

The factory, owned by the state government, aims to boost economic activities in Kwara North, creating jobs and reducing post-harvest losses. By locating the plant in Kaiama, the project emphasizes local ownership and benefits, particularly for women farmers and workers in the region.
