REA Partners with ICPC to Enhance Transparency in Operations

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has welcomed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a comprehensive system study and review of its operations. This initiative aims to deepen accountability and improve transparency within the agency.

The REA was recently recognized as a leader in the power sector in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Ranking and Performance Outlook by the ICPC. During the ICPC's visit to the REA headquarters, Managing Director Abba Aliyu highlighted the agency's responsibility to ensure its internal frameworks are accountable and transparent as it manages significant programs and investments.

He called for enhanced collaboration between the ICPC and the agency's Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU). Aliyu stated that transparency is strengthened through external scrutiny and the identification of operational gaps, pledging that the collaboration with the ICPC and ACTU will be an ongoing framework for evaluating and improving rural electrification systems in Nigeria.
