Atiku Calls for El-Rufai's Release Before Eid Kabir

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has urged the Federal Government to release Mallam El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, before the Eid Kabir celebrations. In a statement issued by Atiku's Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Frank Shaibu, the continued detention of El-Rufai is described as deeply troubling and politically provocative.

Atiku criticized the government's use of state power to intimidate perceived political adversaries, emphasizing that El-Rufai, despite political differences, is entitled to full constitutional protections, including due process and civil liberties. He highlighted the significance of Eid Kabir as a time for forgiveness and family reunion, arguing that there is no justification for keeping El-Rufai detained during this solemn occasion.
