Rema Advocates Modesty, Avoids Wealth Display on Social Media

Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, is a 26-year-old Nigerian Afrobeats singer who recently shared his views on maintaining a modest lifestyle during a radio interview with Jam FM. He explained that he refrains from showcasing his financial success and luxury items on social media to avoid placing undue pressure on young people who look up to him as a role model.

Rema expressed concern that public displays of wealth could lead youth to compare their achievements with his and feel rushed in their own journeys. He stated, “A lot of young people look up to me, whether they are my fans or not,” and emphasized his desire not to make anyone feel inadequate.

Rema prefers simple streetwear over designer clothing and noted that the only extravagant items he possesses are his chains and watches. He believes that everyone has their own time for success and wants to discourage young individuals from feeling pressured by his lifestyle.
