Ikeja Electric Issues Warning on Unauthorized Electricians

Ikeja Electric Plc issued a warning to its customers against engaging unauthorized electrical workers for jobs on its network during its September Virtual Stakeholder Engagement on September 17, 2026. Olaniyi Olayiwola, the Head of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment at Ikeja Electric, advised against allowing unqualified individuals to work on power lines or climb electricity poles, citing recent incidents that resulted in fatalities.

He urged customers to report unsafe activities rather than confront unauthorized workers. Olayiwola also emphasized the importance of maintaining proper clearance around high-voltage power lines to prevent danger.

Additionally, Ikeja Electric informed customers who paid for eligible meters that they would receive refunds through credits applied to their electricity vending transactions. Customers can check their MAP refund status online and are encouraged to contact official customer service channels for inquiries.

Kingsley Okotie, the Head of Corporate Communications, reiterated the importance of relying on official platforms for information and assistance.
